Spock

So, I am working with my Schizophrenic client and she starts laughing and looking in the corner of the room. I turn around and see nothing. Finally I ask her what is so funny. She says...

"Oh my roommate. You know Spock right? He moved into the facility and has been staying in my room. Sometimes he leaves and other times he hangs out with me. For some reason people don't respond to him. Rude huh?"

Of course I am listening intently and trying to come up with something to say and finally I say...
"Hmm, so if others don't respond to him, then perhaps they don't see or hear him. Therefore, perhaps he is actually not here and this might be a symptom of your disorder. Tell me what that would be like?"

She looked at me like I had killed her favorite dog or something. Then said...

"Well...That would make since...BUT NO!!!! He teaches me stuff and is the best roommate ever! Very clean!!! You just wait, maybe you will see him too!"

Needless to say I have obviously never seen Spock and she is not super willing to address this symptom of her disorder! She frequently discusses Spock and hopefully one day there will be some progress made here...I doubt it though!
