Break Out

So, I took my car to be washed yesterday and working the car wash was a young man I worked with at the juvenile correction center. We had a nice chat and he is doing well which is great. However, seeing him reminded me of an encounter I had with him late one night that was sort of funny.

I had worked with this kid (We will call him Bob) all day in the observation and assessment wing of cottage. ( I worked in observation and assessment and with the sex offenders) He had been acting odd all day and was taking longer to eat and was being watchful of me and the other staff. I asked him why he is being sneaky but he always just laughed.

Well, I am doing room checks after they had all gone to bed one night and every time I checked his room (Checks are every 15 minutes) he was near his door or pacing. Well, about 10:15pm I walked into the observation and assessment room and the door to Bob's room was open! (They all lock automatically once shut, so somehow he had broken out) I looked around and saw him crouched down behind me. I turned on him and said "You have 10 freaking seconds to get back to your room or I am going to whoop your ass right here! (As I was pushing up my shirt sleeves) 1...2..."

Bob ran past me into his room and tried to shut his door but it wouldn’t lock and he started yelling "Please Lord let the door lock so a girl doesn’t kick my ass in front of the other kids here!!!!"

By this time the other staff on duty came in and we were both laughing! Turns out Bob had been putting wet toilet paper and toothpaste in his lock on the door over the past week when people weren’t looking and it had over heated and broke the lock.

Bob spent three whole days in his room and was only allowed his bible and one hour out of his room for large muscle activity. Oh it was funny!!!! He was very nice to me after that!
