So, I’m doing an assessment and this kid is out of control! He is pulling on things on the wall saying “What is this, what is this, what is this? What’s it do? What’s it do?” He is running around the room answering questions or turning in circles in the room. I had to repeat every question I asked at least three times because he either didn’t understand the question or wasn’t focused enough to comprehend it. He was so out of control!
Finally, and with some sarcasm I say “So, do you ever just struggle sitting still and staying in one place?” He starts flipping circles in the chair while thrashing his head from side to side and says “I think I sit still good! Sometimes I get off task, I like fish, do you like fish? You gonna take me away from my mommy? She drinks ya know…a lot…like a fish!”
Another day at the office?
