I am interviewing a mother to get some more information on her son to appropriately finish the assessment and diagnosis. Here is part of the conversation…
Me: Now your son says that he doesn’t have any friends and feels unable to make and keep friends. Is that accurate?”
Parent of Client: Yep, no friends, probably because of his pooping problem!
Me: Could you explain that?
Parent of Client: He doesn’t like to use the restroom, says it hurts and he is scared to so he waits till he craps his pants. It’s an almost daily thing, I wouldn’t want to be friends with the kid who craps his pants!
Me: Ok, thanks for the extra info there. How is the family’s relationship with the children not in the home?
Parent of Client: Oh, it used to be pretty bad, but my daughter pushed me so I pushed her and I stabbed her and she stabbed me and now we get along great!
