5 Years Old

Apparently my internship is going to bring stories too!

So, I got to field a crisis call the other day. A grandmother calls and says she is very concerned about her 5 year old grandson. She then says "Well, I am just so concerned and don’t know what to do. His mother and I are just lost. A while ago he cut the dogs throat, didn’t kill the dog, but it hurt it bad, and yesterday his mother walked in just in time to stop him from hanging his 1 year old brother. He had the rope around his brother and a cabinet and was about to push him off the bed. He is also obsessed with boy parts! Especially his brothers!"

Of course as I am listening to this I am thinking several things 1. Ok, what parent doesn’t have a clue as to what to do!!! Either call the cops, a child psychiatrist, or the hospital!" 2. Hmm, who molested him if he is obsessed with his brother’s penis? 3. Wow, this is like the beginning stages of Jeffrey Dahmer..Antisocial traits...ick!

My trainer and I explained how the hospital has a psychiatric pediatric behavioral health unit and could commit him. It was also explained about him being a danger to self and others and services he could qualify for and calling the police, etc, etc.
