Assessment

I am at my internship and I'm asked to complete an assessment on a 13 year old girl. Of course I am willing, no big deal right? WRONG! I go to the school and pull the girl out of class and we are in an office. I start the assessment and she acts like she is stoned out of her mind! She can’t focus and she starts jumping from subject to subject as well as taking forever to answer questions and she has a constant glossy confused look on her face. I asked her how she was doing and she started talking about having to cut her hair because she had lice!!!!!


So, this assessment is just dragging. Every question I ask she has to think about for a couple minutes and then she goes off on a wild story ride. I get toward the end of the assessment and we are discussing her school progress and goals. I say "So, tell me what you want to be when you are older?" She says with her eyes glossing over "A singer!!! I write my own music about love, hate and abuse and put them in different genres. See" She then stood up and started singing!! That's right! She started dancing like a dying fish in place and singing very badly.

So, I said "Ok, well that gives me all the information I need. You can head back to class now...Please!"
